Rhode Island Children's Book Award 2021 Reading Challenge

Rhode Island Children's Book Award

This challenge is for Rhode Island students in grades 3 - 5. There are 20 books nominated each year for this award, and in this challenge, we are encouraging kids to read as many of the 2021 nominees as possible. It is a varied and interesting list of books that includes picture books, nonfiction books, graphic novels and juvenile fiction geared toward this age group! View the nominees HERE.

If children read at least 3 of the nominees by March 15th, they can participate in the state’s RICBA voting. The voting for North Providence will take place in the Children’s department of the North Providence Union Free Library beginning February 1st and ending March 15th.

But can kids read more?! YES! Students who read at least 5 nominated books by May 1st will earn a spot to compete in the 2nd Annual North Providence Rooster Games. Check with your child’s North Providence Elementary school or ask us in the Children’s department for more details.

Kids will earn 1 raffle ticket for each book they read from the nominated list. There is an activity question that kids can answer for each book to earn a bonus raffle ticket. Raffle tickets may be entered to win 1 of 3 awesome prizes here in the library. Winners will be selected and announced at the end of the reading challenge. Kids will also earn bonus prizes along the way.

To sign up, please go to our Beanstack site: nplib.beanstack.org. If you signed up yourself and/or your children for our summer reading challenge, your login will be the same as before.
